Grand Hospice gardens open

As part of its temporary occupation, which will last until December 2023, Pali Pali, manager of the temporary occupation of the site, will open the gardens of the Grand Hospice to the general public at the end of an opening weekend on July 9, 10 and 11.

As a reminder, Pali Pali, gas pedal of cultural, social and solidarity projects, was selected by the CPAS of the City of Brussels following a call for projects launched last March to organize the temporary occupation of the Pacheco site over the next two years, pending major renovation work required to create a housing and community services complex.

Open to the neighborhood

The gardens of the Grand Hospice will open their doors to the general public at the end of an opening weekend on July 9-10-11. They will then remain open for the duration of the temporary occupation, the program of which will be announced shortly.

Classified as a site since 1997, the two interior gardens of the Hospice Pacheco site are veritable pearls of greenery in this Pentagon district, which has little in the way of green spaces. Designed by architect Partoes, they were redeveloped over the years before being listed. The first garden has been laid out in the spirit of a landscape garden, with a few remarkable trees. The design of the second garden, on the other hand, is resolutely more classical.

"As part of the temporary occupation, the gardens of the Institut Pacheco, which were once dedicated to the use of the former nursing home, are open to the public and the neighborhood for the very first time . We're talking about no less than 6,000 square meters of greenery open to the public right in the heart of the City! " comments Khalid Zian, President of the CPAS de la Ville de Bruxelles.

This space will be open to the public, and in particular to local residents, and will provide facilities for the whole neighbourhood, based on two principles: creating links and living together. The gardens, which will be open to the public, will enable everyone to discover the area while enjoying a drink in a fully equipped guinguette.

Inauguration July 9, 10 and 11

During the weekend of July 9, 10 and 11, the gardens will be open from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm from Thursday to Saturday, and from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Sunday. The Grand Hospice will be offering a guinguette, children's entertainment and concerts. These opening times will remain the same throughout the summer.

" It was our wish to open the gardens to the neighborhood as quickly as possible to provide new meeting and programming spaces. Our aim is to offer a welcoming space and make visible this exceptional heritage of the city of Brussels ," comments Edouard Meier, Pali Pali founder in charge of the temporary occupation.
