Usquare.brussels

Usquare.brussels

The process of transitional occupation of the Usquare.brussels site was initiated in 2018 by Société d'Aménagelent Urbain (SAU). Opening in 2019 and managed by pali pali, See U was Belgium's largest temporary occupation for four years. It met with considerable public and media success, winning it an award at the at the Visit.brussels Awards 2020.

In mid-2022, SAU launched to appoint a pilot for the transition from See U to Usquare.brussels. The contract was won by pali pali, who is responsible for organizing a small number of transitional activities (creative, cultural, social, etc.) and maintaining the links created since 2019 with the residents of the former barracks and, more broadly, with the people of Brussels, for example with visits to the construction sites. These activities take place on a limited surface area, due to the ramp-up of the worksites.
