Usquare.brussels

The process of transitional occupation of the Usquare.brussels site was initiated in 2018 by the Société d'Aménagelent Urbain (SAU). Opened in 2019 and managed by pali pali, See U was for four years the largest temporary occupation in Belgium. It has met with considerable public and media success, and has been awarded the awarded at the Visit.brussels Awards 2020.

The SAU has launched mid-2022 a public tender to appoint a pilot for the transition from See U to Usquare.brussels. It is pali pali who won this contract and is in charge of organizing the reception, in reduced number, of transitional activities (creative, cultural, social...) and of maintaining the links created since 2019 with the residents of the former barracks and more widely with the inhabitants of Brussels, for example with visits of the building sites. These activities take place on a limited surface because of the increase in the number of construction sites.
