Extension for Grand Hospice

Two-year extension for Grand Hospice

CPAS de la Ville de Bruxelles extends its partnership with pali pali at Grand Hospice for a further two years. An occupancy rate close to 100%, over 150,000 visitors, emblematic projects and strong social action thanks to the free accommodation of impacting associations are all arguments that have convinced the CPAS de la Ville de Bruxelles to extend the duration of pali pali's temporary occupation of the Grand Hospice site until December 2025.

"The CPAS has decided to extend its partnership with pali pali," says Khalid Zian, President of the CPAS de la Ville de Bruxelles. He is delighted with the success of the project: "The temporary occupation of the site has given rise to a particularly rich and diverse dynamic. The Grand Hospice is home to dozens of associations, businesses and services that develop activities in the social economy, healthcare, continuing education, culture and sport. They reach a wide variety of audiences: from children to senior citizens, from volunteers to workshop participants, from local residents to visitors looking for a drink or a show. This partnership has made it possible to create an activity center at the heart of which is placed the diversity of activities and audiences."

Le Grand Hospice completed its first full year of operation in December 2022, and the results show that the Tiers-lieu has been able to achieve the objectives that were at the heart of its proposal. With its 140 occupants, it boasts an occupancy rate of almost 100%, and hosts a multidisciplinary range of activities covering the themes and values of sustainable development, community, art and culture, education and health. The premises are made available free of charge to fifteen associations with a strong social impact, and fifteen other associations benefit from preferential social rates.

Thanks to a varied and inclusive program of over 600 events, daily open doors and a welcoming environment, the Grand Hospice has welcomed over 150,000 visitors since its opening.

The future of the Grand Hospice

The new year promises to be an exciting one for the Grand Hospice community. After a year of project implementation, the team wants to multiply its impact tenfold by increasing visibility and social outreach.

To develop its visibility, Grand Hospice intends to maintain and develop partnerships with external organizations (e.g. Zinneke, Plaisirs d'hiver...), involving the resident community as much as possible.

Above all, Grand Hospice wants to further increase its social impact by bringing back events that have had a positive impact, such as the B=Equal Festival, while continuing to host the solidarity initiatives that are at the heart of its work.

The CPAS de la Ville de Bruxelles and Pali Pali are more than ever committed to preserving and perfecting these values of diversity and accessibility, which are inseparable from the Grand Hospice project.
